2005 Beaver Monterey Bayview - Awning over the entry door is stuck shut. Key and operating switches inside are labeled Carefree of Colorado, but unit has nothing identifying on it, nor any obvious external attachment hardware, so it seems like it needs to be open to service it or remove it. Can anyone identify it, have experience with this unit or has the manual available?

I had similar issues (still not fixed) 5 years ago. My son power washed the Coach and likely forced water into the motor capsule, cuz it always worked fine before then. After removing panel(s) that hold the control devices inside over the door, and testing all possibilities with a meter, I concluded the motor was shot, likely corroded contacts somewhere within. But getting the motor out and/or the entire unit off the motorhome proved undoable. The tubular motor must be slid out toward the rear where the main awning arm restricts it. The mounts holding the unit on the coach can’t be accessed with the awning closed. After many hours I gave up and opted to let experienced BCS techs deal with it, among a list of other fixes the next time in Bend.
For discussions here about the issue, use the “Search” tab above that’s to the right of the “Home” and the “Help” tabs above in the menus line. Don’t use the Search field in the upper right of this page as it’s not as reliable. Then type into the ‘Search for’ field, the word “awning”, and into the ‘by user’ field, “Joel Ashley”.
Here’s a sample:

Neal,
I think it is a Carefree Freedom OTD awning. You will find manuals on it in Coach Assist under Awnings.

Neal,
It is a carefree OTD (over the door). More than likely it is the motor. Really bad engineering because the motor end cap facing up at 12:00 position has 2 vent holes in it. On all the ones that I have replaced, I sealed those holes with RTV and did not have a unit fail or unhappy customers. Hope this helps, Fred

Excuse me, the awning is a Dometic Oasis Elite. There is a video on You tube that explains the procedure to remove the motor.

The model shown in the attached link doesn't match mine precisely, which has a tubular motor mounted horizontally in the unit, but I wish it did. But it may match yours, Neal, as engineering fluxed in that era. The tubular motor has to slide out sideways from within the awning and the adjoining big awning won't allow that. But this video reveals a lot of similarities that prove enlightening. Thanks, Fred, for refreshing my review of current video offerings; there may be others I haven't yet explored. Hopefully Neal will find this or another one to be the answer to his situation.

If you run across one specific to tubular motor models before I do, Neal, please advise ;).

Neal, Fred,
Per the 2005 Monterey Owners Manual in Coach Assist, the over the door awning was an option and is listed as an 'Eclipse Automatic Carefree".

Steve,
When I saw the picture that he posted, I saw the protruded part of the motor housing and made the incorrect statement. You are correct, it is the "one touch eclipse" I apologize for the mistake. Fred

No need to apologize. We are all trying to help each other. :)

Neal - I am wondering if you were able to remove and/or dismantle your over-the-door awning. After arriving in Yuma for the winter about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I decided to tear into my over-the-door awning because it has not operated at all for several years. I have not been able to precisely identify the awning other than knowing it's a Carefree of Colorado unit. Yesterday I spent a couple of hours getting the end cap off the motor and was able to successfully remove the awning completely from the coach.
The motor has to be completely removed from the end of the awning in order to allow the awning to extend. Once extended about a foot or more, the three screws locking the awning into place on the coach can be removed. Then the awning can be tilted up and slid off the front from the holding rail.
My awning motor appears to be a dead soldier but has no identifying name, model, or any identifying information. My next step is to either repair the motor, if indeed repairable, or replace it. My next stop will be to see "Old Bob" at CJ's RV Repair here in Yuma tomorrow. I will take the awning and motor to him to see if he can repair or replace the motor and reinstall it. If so, then I can slip the awning back in place, hook up the wires, apply liberal amounts of Lexel at the leak points, and reinstall the three screws that hold it from sliding left or right, or lifting in the wind.
Anyone know where I can get a motor for it? I understand it's a Fiamma motor.
BTY - Once you have spent a few hours trying to figure out how to get the awning extended, you will find it pretty easy to reinstall... I think! There is one screw that must be removed and it's under the front flap that leads the awning out when it extends. The problem is that screw is under that flap. Well... a two-inch section of that flap can be removed by removing the screw that holds it in place. You have to drive a wedge horizontally under the flap from its left side. Then look in horizontally from the left side. There you will see a Phillips head screw to remove. Removing that screw will allow that two-inch piece of the flap to come off revealing the final screw that holds the motor cover on.

Don't know if this is of any help. But the entry awning on my 05 Marquis is as follows.
Carefree Part: VP050MB25WM
MANUFACTURE DATE : 05/12/04
DESCRIPTION : FREEDM OTD/WA,050"4667,WHT/MTR
For a motor you might try Florida Automated Shades (https://www.floridaautomatedshade.com/ ). I was able to get a Somfy motor from them to replace dead motor in my Carefree bedroom awning earlier this year. Their support help seemed to be pretty good at knowing the various motors in Carefree awnings. And less than 1/2 price of what Carefree wanted - even if I could have found it.
