Title: Cat C12
Post by: Jose Rita on April 17, 2025, 11:41:21 PM
Hi all, I have a 2002 Beaver Patriot with a C12 engine.  Getting ready for season I changed out all the filters.  After changing fuel filters it now cranks but no start.  It has a Racor filter system.  I am at my wits end.  If I had hair I would be pulling it out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Was it running before you changed the filters?

If so it sounds like you have air trapped in the lines and will have to purge the air to get fuel to the injectors.  I am not that familiar with your C-12, but there may be a bleed screw on one of the filters.  Someone who know the C-12 better will probably post here exactly what you need to do.

Is your air purge system operational? It should be located next to the filters. If it does not work, then filling the filters with diesel will be the simplest solution. Try to fill the outside holes on the filter. If you fill the center hole, then the fuel will not be filtered. Hope this helps, good luck! Thank you for the replies.  It was a silly move on my part, I didnt pre fill the filter and got air in the lines like it was suggested.  After a lot of priming it did finally start.  Wont be doing that again.  Anyway thank you for the replies and suggestions.
