Title: Coolant Reservoir Cracked
Post by: Trige Gleim on July 28, 2025, 02:34:04 AM
We found a major crack (more like a hole) at the bottom of our coolant reservoir after elevated engine temps climbing a mountain pass forced us to pull off the road. After letting things cool down I tried gorilla taping the hole and then refilling the reservoir with some extra coolant I had on hand as we only needed 15 more miles to reach our campground. Didn't work, as we had to pull off again short of reaching the campground. So we're stranded at a pull off on the side of the road. Are any of you familiar with driving 191 from Vernal UT to Flaming Gorge UT? That's where we're stranded.
I'm planning to call Beaver Coach in the morning to see if they can locate and expedite me a replacement. Does anybody have a recommendation on getting a new one? It's a Caterpillar C9 Engine. I'll try to attach a picture of the reservoir, please disregard the black tape.

Trige,
Be sure to replace it with a metal tank. See https://beaveramb.org/forum/index.php/topic,5963.msg44428.html#msg44428 for more info.
Check https://www.rvservicereviews.com/StateList.asp?state=UT for possible RV service. JB weld Marine might hold it for a short time.
Good Luck Steve

Thank you Steve. Mr Premus hooked me up with one.
