Title: AquaHot power draw
Post by: Jeff Watt on January 07, 2012, 04:09:24 PM
What draw (power requirement) does the electric element require on the AquaHot system, i.e. 20, 25, 30 amp? Needing to re-wire in my shed and is it best to go 30 amp or 50?

Jeffrey,
The AquaHot 120V heating element in your coach draws 15 amps (some latter model coaches have dual elements and draw 30 amps), so if nothing else is running like battery chargers, a 30 amp plug will handle the load. However if you actually use the coach while on this plug, you should consider a 50 amp plug, because charging low batteries or just turning on the microwave would overload the circuit if the AquaHot element was on.

Thanks Gerald,

I had tried it while plugged into a 15amp and the panel said it was insufficient for it to come on; however I had the chargers on (float) and probably a couple of lights and the standby modes for the TV, micro.

Good to know when parked at campgrounds.
