Title: Shock Replacement?
Post by: Randy Perry on March 04, 2012, 10:59:45 PM
I have 92,000 miles on my coach ( I bought it with 75,000 on her) and sometimes feel she is porpoiseing more than she should! The shocks are Bilsteins and was wondering if that's what Beaver was installing in 2000? Anyway to determine their age, like a date stamp? My front tires are coming up on 6 years old and was thinking I might replace tires and shocks at the same time!

I installed Eight Koni FSD shock absorbers and am very happy with the overall performance. They have eliminated any porpoising I had in the past I installed them myself and it was a workout due to the original shock mount bolts being torqued on at over 2.8 billion foot pounds. If I had to do it again I would just spend the $150 per shock and replace the four in the front. I cannot feel the rear 35 feet behind me and I hasn't noticed a difference verses my original billsteins.

Randy,
Yes Bilstein shocks were original equipment from the factory on your 2000 Patriot.

I also installed the Koni FSD shocks but only on the front. I was surprised how much difference they made. Very pleased with them.
