Title: NORCOLD REGRIGATOR
Post by: Fred Nikirk on September 26, 2012, 11:52:35 PM
I have a 2001 PT 425.  My Norcold refrigator it has a update against over heating.
It shows a red light, and the refrig doesn't work. I took the input wire and connected it
to the output wire thru a 15 amp fuse.  Its working now.  Are they having problems
with these?

When I got my update done last fall, the tech doing it told me there were, up to then, about 8 updates, as each one had problems.  As my fridge had other issues, I now have the Amish cooling unit, that doesn't need the updates.

My second one just quit and I had to by-pass it. It think it's time to quit and run it without the update.

By-passing the "update" will remove Norcold's legal responsibility if, unfortunately, you were to have a fire caused by the fridge.  The recall was designed, not to fix the actual problem with fridge, but, rather, to give Norcold legal immunity if people failed to follow their instructions.

Thank you Joel,

That is good information we can apply to all recall notices from all manufacturers.
