Title: Steering box change
Post by: Dave Cunningham on June 04, 2013, 02:55:13 AM
Just wondering if anyone has, or knows if it is possible to change the 38 degree steering box in my 2003 marquis, to a later model with 50+ degrees, I believe it is a trw Ross box. I think they changed over to the 50 degree steering in around 06. I would love to make the change if it was possible.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,
On a 2003 Marquis, tire clearance is the restrictive design feature. I do not think that you have the tire clearance to accommodate a turning angle any sharper than you have now, regardless of which steering gear is used. Your LF tire almost hits the steering linkage now in a right turn.

Thanks Gerald, I figured there might be a problem like that, I'll have to get under there and check things out a bit more thoroughly .

We do love the turn radius on the 06 Thunder!
