Title: Engine Power
Post by: Dennis Crawford on June 17, 2013, 03:49:40 AM
All,

We are on our first long trip with our 05 Monterey with a Cat C9.  We have been traveling up some hills (mountains) and the going is very slow.  The other day I was concerned that we would not make the climb.  The Check Engine light does not come on but there is a code 25 stored in the ECM.  I am trying to find a Cat dealer, but would like to know if anyone has any ideas.

Code 25 is boost pressure sensor voltage high or low. It may play a role in your issue given you have a sensor that is not within calibrated limits so the ECM may be limiting performance. Air cleaners need to be within restriction limits, the cleaner the better, and fuel filters need to be able to handle the volumes of fuel that needs to be delivered for these climbing loads. Clearly something is not right and these are some areas that come to mind. Heading to a CAT dealer seems wise.

To All,

We stopped at Butler Cat in Rapid city, SD this morning. They got right on the coach. They installed a new sensor and fuel filter. We were back on the road in about two hours.
