Hi all - when we were returning home from the 'sunny south' in April our rear view camera just quit working. We have talked to the local repair guy and he does not know anything about the cameras. Does anyone out there have any ideas. The speaker still works so it must be getting power. If we need to replace it, any ideas on where to get one. We have a 2001 Contessa. We are only semi-handy.

Linda,
If the screen is dark on the Weldex monitor, that's probably your problem, not the camera itself. I lost mine in our Contessa and ordered a new one from RV Cams, Inc. 877-378-2267 (www. RV Cams.com) Cost about $168 in 08 and wasn't too tough to replace (but you have to remove the TV and it isn't light!). Mine went bad because I left it on all the time, rather than turning it off. It will automatically come on when you place the unit in reverse.
Hope you guys stayed dry..

Check your connections under the dash or where the wires are going to your screen

Also, If it is a Weldex camera, where the wires go into the camera they can become week and loose continuity. Thats what has happened to mine. Gets hot back there then the screen goes blank. Go back and push wires in at camera and the screen comes back on. Seems to only happen when it's hot out. I plan on repacing the camera but keep forgetting. Maybe I'll go out now (maybe not). Marty

Commonly there is a camera access panel high in the back of the wardrobe closet. As Marty indicated, before he ran off to get a beer and mull over the degree of his ambitiousness :P , I've read similar forum posts where the connections in the back of the camera were the culprit.

Already did that one Joel. Was told to cut the connection out and solder the wires together. That didn't work and that is when I found out about pushing the wires in where they enter the camera housing. It wasn't a beer, it was something a little stronger. LOL Marty
