Title: Oregon Highway 199
Post by: Mike n Marina Wolfgram on June 27, 2013, 05:07:19 PM
We are going with a group that want to take 199 from Grants Pass to Crescent City.  It has been 20 years since we were on the Highway and remember that is was very narrow and lots of sharp curves.  If you have been on this road, what were your experiences?  Our coach is much longer, so will that be a problem?
Thanks, Mike & Marina

I have made the 199 drive to Crescent City many times in our 40' beaver.  The road has been worked on over the years and is better than it used to be.  There are a couple of narrow spots on curves with a rock face close on the passenger side, but nothing you can not pass if you pay attention.  I would not hesitate to make the trip, it's a beautiful drive.

Hi Mike and Marina, I used this route last winter while I-5 south was close for snow and ice. We did have a little snow on the try but this was in December. The route is very good we have a 43ft Beaver and pull a Saturn. The grades are minor with the summit about 30-45 min, west of Grants Pass the road was in great shape. the drive is only 2 hours and 30 minutes if your using Seven Feathers.  Bottom line have fun.
