Title: Turning off inverter
Post by: Paul Schwalen on September 04, 2013, 02:18:46 PM
I finally have to change out the house batteries and have a question regarding the inverter.  I know that  the inverter has to be turned off and my question is can I just turn it off at the panel over the entry door or must I climb in the bay and turn it off at the inverter?

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to turn off both the charger function and the inverter function from the panel. If you also shut off the 120V power feed to the coach the charger function will not be available.

Thanks Ed.

I guess if I have the shore power off and don't have the invert function on at the panel then the inverter/charger cannot function and it is the same as turning the unit off at the switch on the inverter?

Should be fine. The unit has some limited electronics on so that the panel/on function is available. As long as inverter function is off and the AC at the post is disconnected you are good to go.

Paul,
If in the sun, the solar panel will still be supplying voltage. Make sure the + lead doesn't  contact ground.

Steve,

Thanks, I had planned to cover the solar panel with a blanket because I don't know where it can be disconnected.
