I am thinking about buying a Chevrolet HHR 2008 as a toad.
The manual says that this can be towed 4 down.
I would appreciate any comments from members on this.

Apparently it is indeed towable, Dennis. See the 2008 guide at: http://www.fmcmagazine.com/images/stories/pdf/towing_08.pdf
You may have to sign in to FMCA to get at the Guide, I'm not sure.

Hi Dennis we've been towing a 2011 HHR 4-down for close to 2 years now with no issues.

Seems to me it is an ideal choice. It is small but roomy for its size.

My sincere thanks to all who were kind enough to reply to my post.

If it's like most GM cars, you will need to pull a fuse while towing to avoid draining the battery. We installed a fuse switch rather than having to get down on hands and knees to pull and re-install the fuse each time we towed.

Dennis I have been towing an HHR for almost 6 years I think. Instead of a fuse, the guy that installed my baseplate and wiring ran a charge line from the coach. It connects to the battery on the HHR and thus charges it (supposedly) as you are driving. The down side is I've had a couple of instances where the cable didn't make good contact and sure enough, I had a dead battery at the end of the day driving. But towing 4 wheels down has never been a problem.
