Glenn,
I have a 3126 CAT in my 1997 Marquis, so I'm a little concerned about what you're asking. I haven't heard anything about cracks, and my local CAT dealer can't say enough good about these engines. Mine starts and runs very well, and gets better than normal MPG's when we're out with it.

Glenn,
Haven't heard of any block problems with the 3126. However, since many of the 3126 applications use the rear radiator, they were subject to overheating if the radiator became plugged. I've seen this cause block / head problems a few times on this engine.
