Title: Day/Night window shades
Post by: Tic Wilson on January 26, 2014, 08:40:53 PM
One of our day/night shades has suddenly stopped holding open/up.  Has anyone ever fixed these or do they have to be replaced?
If they are fixable please let me know what the steps are.  Thanks

We changed out all day/night shades 2 years ago and replaced them with MCD shades. We should have done it sooner. The coach stays warmer and cooler when needed. When opening a shade in the morning you can feel the temperature difference immediately.

Tic,

It could be an easy fix.  The two blind cords you see on either side of the blind need to have tension.  You should see a small round disc that can be turned to tighten cord. Not too tight. Tension needs to be as equal as possible on each shade. Also, do not let go of the cord.  The plastic disc may be broken and can be rerplaced.  Any shade or RV shop should have them.  If not, use a sewing machine bobber.

They are easy to repair.  You can get needed parts here...  http://www.fixmyblinds.com/RV-Day-Night-Shade-Parts-s/134.htm

Tic,

I my post to you I said, tension should be the same on all shades.  What I meant was tension should be nearly the same on both cords on each side of the shade.

Sorry.

Thanks to everyone.  I've been down with a cold for a few days so just checked in to the forum again.  It will be a couple of weeks before I can get to fixing it.  Once I fix it I will let everyone know.  Thanks again!
