Title: Wine Cabinet Acrylic Repair
Post by: Larry Dedrick on January 30, 2014, 10:55:06 PM
Is there anyway to remove scratches or blemishes from the clear acrylic doors on the wine cabinet?  Ours has some very large scratches or areas where it appears it has rubbed against the lower shelf.  Thanks Laura

Hi Laura,

Test with caution in small area first... but here is what has worked for me:

Flitz Metal Polish, Fiberglass & Paint Restorer - 2 lb Can (Available on Amazon) http://www.amazon.com/Flitz-Metal-Polish-Fiberglass-Restorer/dp/B008JFA0T4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391138817&sr=8-1&keywords=Flitz+Metal+Polish%2C+Fiberglass+%26+Paint+Restorer+-+2+lb+Can  ...This stuff is amazing, you will see it restores acrylic and plexi in the description. We did our Skylight on our Beaver Marquis and it looks almost brand new. Your mileage may vary.

Also look at Novus http://www.amazon.com/Novus-Polish-Plastic-Scratch-Remover/dp/B000J41VDM/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391139224&sr=8-1-fkmr2&keywords=3m+plexiglass+restorer - Lots of motorcycle guys use it to restore the face shields on their helmets.

Cheers Brent

You're welcome Larry & Laura.

PS: Might be worth getting a scrap piece of plexi and testing what works well for you before committing to repairing the Beaver :-)

Look for a product called "Jewelers Rouge". It is made specifically for the jewelry industry however works extremely well for polishing Acrylic. You will need a soft cloth buffing wheel for a table grinder or a drill.
