This "rack", for the lack of a better description, is under the angled kitchen cabinet that has the kitchen sinks. We have had the coach for two years and have always speculated what its purpose might be. Our best guess is storage for "cookie sheets".
Does anyone know what it really is?
Safe travels all,

It could be storage for the panels that cover your sink or the panels that cover your cook top. Marty

Stan,
You might get a better answer from a fellow 05 Monterey owner, but they look like a storage area for you stove and/or sink covers.

According to the 2005 Monterey brochure there is supposed to be a built in sink cover storage. Although my New to me Monty had neither the sink covers nor the rack, by elimination of any other possibilities, I support Gerald's suggestion that this is the built in sink cover rack.
As an aside, does anyone know where I can purchase these sink covers or at least matching Corian to make same. Thanks...

Stan this is the same as our rig and yes we store the sink covers here some time

Ditto here Stan. A lot of people leave their sink covers or stove covers off 24/7, and those slots are handy for storing them. Since we like the extra counter space the inserts provide when needed, we discovered we usually had at least one of the slots vacant at any one time, so it or they commonly hold a small cookie sheet for the convection microwave or other use.
Can only imagine what became of yours, Bob. I think these things were cut out of the countertop slab so to fit cleanly, but you might check with the parts boys at BCS - if anyone has an angle on them for you, it's them. 1-800-382-2597. I'd guess some RV interior redesigners, like those across the street from BCS in Bend and others, might also be of assistance.

Might give these guys a call too.

Joel and Steve, thank you for your suggestions. I do have to find some means of hiding my dirty dishes. ;)

Thanks everyone. Becky put the sink covers in the slots, and they fit perfectly. We had them on a shelf in the cabinet under the switches for the Hydro Hot, water pump, preheat, and under cabinet lights. Every time we wanted to slide something on to one of the two shelves under there, we bumped into the sink covers. This is much better.
Have a blessed and patriotic Fourth of July all!

Bob,
Go to any authorized Corian Countertop dealer. Take one of your other covers or take the coach. They should be able to make a pattern of the opening and manufacture a new cover. It won't have the Beaver Logo, but it will match the counter.
This also goes for repairs. They can repair a crack or chip virtually unseen. That has always been the beauty of Corian.
Here is a link to Corian by DuPont. In it you will find a color section and you can click on "Locate a Retailer" for a place close to you. They should either be able to supply and make you new covers or direct you to someone who can.

Bob, here is a link to suppliers in your area of Rockford.

Les,
Thanks for the research, but I'm in Rockkford. Bob is in Calgary, AB.

OOOPS! A moment of dyslexia.
Either way, the link is there for DuPont for whoever needs it.

A lot of the SMC era Beavers used Fountainhead solid surface counter tops, so getting an exact match using Corian may be very difficult to say the least.

Good point Gerald.

Thank you for the suggestions on the Corian sink inserts.
Gerald, your comment would explain why I can't find a Corian colour match.
I guess I'm going to have to use Corian of a complimentary or contrasting material. (Or get into the habit of washing the dishes instead of hiding them. :)

Bob,
Regarding the dishes, you could use one of my best friends techniques. It would involve a window and the highway...
We were sitting in the back cockpit of his boat after a sunset dinner on the lake for the four of us. His wife asked him to wash the dishes and without batting an eye he stacked them all neatly and then heaved them over the transom into the lake never to be seen again. He proclaimed "Dishes are washed"...We thought this was all quite hilarious at the time having had a few beers. I do believe that his wife bought a new set of dishes whose expense assured that a more suitable dishwashing technique would be used in the future. We do pay for our sins....it is still funny when we recall just how short his dishwashing career really was that evening :-)

That's hilarious Ed. I'll keep that suggestion as an option, however I think it might break a BLM or campground rule or two.
I love this forum - there's usually a solution to every problem. ;D

Our 2002 was missing one of the cutouts and the pattern is no longer available. We had one made in a very similar pattern and no one notices.

Thank you Mary. If I'm not able to locate a close match in Corian I think I'll use arborite on plywood in a cutting board or chopping block pattern for one sink or both. The lighter material will be easier to handle and store. Maybe an actual cutting board on the flip side of one of the covers.
Stan, I'm sorry for high jacking your thread. I trust you had your query addressed?
