Our steps were accidently hit by a car and now freely move in and out. When the entry door is opened or closed you can hear the motor working but no movement of the stairs. Visual inspection doesn't show any structural damage and the stairs move in and out freely (not good while moving down the road :'( ). I have put 2 bungee cords underneath to hold them in place and are using a small step stool to ease the entry process. Would love to hear if this is an easy fix or because we are on our way to Mesa I would also be grateful to get recommendations on good repair shops in the Mesa area. Thanks

The structural damage must be enclosed, probably a shear pin or gear assembly. My suggestion would be to buy a new motor and gearbox after checking that all external parts are functional. This is a motor gearbox assembly which may or may not be the correct one.

This is a video with some temporary repair information that also shows a motor assembly and gearbox.

On our Thunder the step motor is a window lift motor from Ford, I have read in here that they are easy to get at Napa. On my coach the whole assy looks like a window motor assy.
You may have a piece of linkage disconnected or the motor may have failed.

Took me awhile but I found who made our steps. Frigette who was bought out by Lippert has all the parts and pieces for these steps. Although the motor they show for a "Double Slide Step Assey" they want $188 for it "BS". ACI has it for less than $50 p/n 83694.
Here is a link to Lippert:
