Title: solar panel red indicator light not on...
Post by: Steve Albert on May 18, 2015, 10:59:26 PM
MY 96 Beaver Patriot has two large solar panels for house batteries and one small panel for the starter batteries.  There is an Isolator Board with a solar regulator, I was told that if the red light is on the solar is charging.  The light is not on on my board. Is there a way I can test to see if the solar is working at all in my RV?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
You can check to see if your solar panels are charging the batteries by turning everything in the coach off when it is in bright sunlight and checking battery voltage using an accurate digital meter with the panels covered by a blanket and uncovered. When you uncover the panels, the battery voltage will increase if the panels are charging the batteries. If the voltage does not increase, the panels are not charging the batteries.
