Has aanyone had any experience in removing water caused stains in headliner? I have a 2001 Thunder that has many stains as I had a serious leak and had to replace the skylite in the shower.
-
Yes!! I need to know if we are talking the vinyl or the cloth material. Carol's Coach Concoction 2 is tongue in cheek but does work better than what the pro's use.
We have had to remove those same stains on almost every wall.
Get back to me or just search on this forum for the above.
Have faith, the right process and a couple hours and very little cost will do the trick.

I believe thyat the headliner is a vinyl with sound deadning foam about 1/4" thick - it does not feel like cloth and is not carpet. our headliner looks like a raod map now with all of the stains from the bed room to the front of the coach!

I created a new thread for "Carols Coach Concoction" just in case you had cloth problems. Vinyl is another thing. I assume that you have tried vinyl cleaners?
By the sound of it the leaking skylight caused enough moisture in the coach to condense on the ceiling but that's a guess. Hopefuly its dried out now and cleanup is the end of it for you.
I'm thinking a good vinyl cleaner but perhaps posting a photo might generate other ideas.
email me direct if I can help

You know what, I have a 98 Marquis with cloth head and wall coverings. I just use Joy dish detergent, a few drops, mixed in water, use a brush, and voila, stains gone.

I havent tried this though I know Joy is a little different than most. What , you sponge it on and dry it? Any rinse? We tried everything else but am glad to know about Joy as we are fixing some leaks again.

Hi all, thanks for the input re stains. They are from a major leak at the skylight and had to replace it, and now the fun begins! I did not want to try any unproven methods as they most always end up making the stains more perminate and certainly do not want that. The stains as I have said look like a road map rather than "drops" and appear to be where the water edge stopped and the tracks are ragged rather than a "straight" type line (stain).

I've had my share of stains. I've been spraying Windex, let it stand for a couple of minutes then dab with Bounty paper towels with great suscess. Jim

We had a can of coke explode in our 97 Monterey w/a plush ceiling cover I used hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle let it set for a few minutes then patted it dry with an old white towel took it all out :)
-
I have got to try the hydrogen peroxide thing. Thanks Carol.
Anything that leaves soap in cloth will dry with a residue that collects dirt. Thus our idea of vinegar in water to get out the soap.

We found this thread before joining BAC. In the midst of an improvement project on a 2002 Patriot Thunder. A LOT of water stains to handle, but Carol's Coach Concoction II has been amazing! The headliner and walls have come back extremely well.
Thanks Carol!
Bob and Tiffany give this four thumbs up!

I use Folex, a stain remover found at Home Depot. It has yet to let me down.
-
Ditto what Tom and Pam stated. Folex works great on our fabric ceiling.

A simple grocery store product has worked for us on fabric & vinyl stains. Oxi-Clean laundry stain remover!
-
Yes, Folex works as well but is in no way as cool as Carols Coach Concoction. I may be slightly biased but I married her so.....

Robert, I am so glad that "Carol's Coach Concoction II" worked so well for you! I spent much time mixing ingredients to get the right mix. At the time, there was nothing that worked well enough, in my opinion, so I made something that did. When we had the awning removed and resealed, no one believed that it actually WAS leaking because the walls were so clean. Lol! The shop had "professionals" clean the areas I couldn't get to (behind some cabinets and behind the couch), but I had to step in and do it myself because their products didn't work. I think they are still using the CCCII method still today! Lol!
Anyway, that's enough about me... ;)
TODAY I no longer mix all that stuff...because, like so many others on this forum, I discovered Folex!!! Awesome stuff! It works fantastic and it is real cheap! So, if you go to Home Depot to buy some be sure to buy a few bottles as it is very popular and they sell out fast! :D

Outstanding. Thanks Carol. From this thread there appears to be many happy Folex customers. We will grab some and give it a try.
-
Just checked Home Depot online and they have discontinued Folex, you can still get it at Amazon.
-
FYI: I just purchased Folex at Lowes in Denver for $5.79.
-
We just purchased at Ace Hardware in Florida ourselves. Works really well.
They have another product called Tech that is great (you could do crime scene clean ups with this stuff).
