Title: Location of water valve for icemaker Contessa 2007
Post by: Uwe Schmalenbach on June 09, 2015, 09:03:34 PM
I have a Contessa 2007 with a Dometic refrigerator model MDA1402, prod # 921 14 82-80, and want to start using the icemaker that is part of the refrigerator. The previous owner did not use the icemaker and looking into the manual I see that I have to turn on the water valve that feeds the refrigerator. My problem is that I do not know where that valve is located so I can turn it on. Can anybody help?

The water supply to my ice maker comes from behind the cover where the coach fresh water pump is located.  In our coach that is on the street side in a basement compartment fore of the water bay.  On that common wall between that basement compartment and water bay there is a cover over a box built into the wall that is about 2' w x 1.5' H x 5" D.  The ice machine water supply has a simple thumb-screw gate valve with a small clear plastic water line going up to behind the fridge.

From the 2007 Contessa Manual and as David said...

The water valve supplying the refrigerator must
be turned on, and the ice level bail arm must
be in the down position. The valve is located
behind the water service bay with the water
pump.

On my 2008, there is a sheet metal panel (covered with carpet) that is attached to the bulkhead near the water service bay. remove the 4 screws that hold the panel and the water pump and valve should be right there. On my 2008, the water filter is also in this area. If yours is too, now would be a good time to replace it. I used the Watts GAC10NRV 10" GAC Replacement Filter Cartridge.

Thank you for everybody replying. In my case it is behind the lower outside refrigerator cover door. This just shows that unfortunately what the schematics and the manual say does not necessarily anything to do with where a specific component is located on a Beaver of late manufacture. In my case the bad news is that there is no connection between that valve and the inlet to the icemaker. So I guess I will have to go to an RV repair facility and have them reinstall that connection.

ooops...on page 93 the manual states:

The icemaker works from 120 Volts AC only. The water valves supplying the refrigerator must be turned on, and the ice level bail arm must be in the down position. One valve is located behind the water service center with the water pump, and the other in the exterior refrigerator access compartment.
