Title: Cruise control quits working after 60 MPH /Monterey 1996...Caterpillar 6 Cylinde

Allison 6 speed transmission.... cruise control works fine up to 60 MPH . After that it kicks out every 3-5 minutes. Had 4 different RV repairs specialists work on it.

Jim,
You didn't say what coach / engine combo you have. In any case, do you have the economy mode selected on the transmission panel? If not, some engines / trannys will search and shift from 5 to 6 and back again at about 60 mph. This can feel like the cruise control is dropping out.

       Hi  Jim,

   What kind of coach do you have?  If I run up on a hill without paying attention, and my speed drops off 5-7 mph it will disengage the cruise control. If your coach has a "smart wheel" sometimes the issue is in the "clock spring" (under the steering wheel) that transfers all that info to the control module for the smart wheel. I have changed a few of them when I have intermittent issues with customers.

Your coach probably doesn't have one, Jim.  Not sure but I think Smart Wheel came available on coaches a year or two later.
