While using the Atwood range burner to cook potatoes in a large skillet , we noticed that the front burner had started to melt. In checking under the range top, we also noticed some slight melting of the gas supply line. What would cause this? We have noticed that the oven does not heat very evenly but this is the first burner issue. What materials are used in the supply line construction?

Hi Larry,
Atwood cook tops are normally pretty dependable. Normally the center burner is the hi-performance with the larger flame. Is the flame larger than normal? are the other burners abnormally larger or is the blue flame gap from burner head roaring or unusually noisey? If so, it could be an LPG regulator at the LP tank is starting to fail. If so, other indications are erratic furnace operation or the refer going to "check" when on LP.
To check the pressure of the LP system, you will need a "Manometer" You should not have more than 11" water column pressure. You may need to call around or take your coach to an RV shop to have this done.
WARNING: this is a "Safety" issue that needs to be addressed quickly. The last thing we want to hear is
"News and Weather at 10:00 about an RV"

Sorry for the late reply, turned out we used too large of a skillet to fry potatoes. The heat was not escaping fast enough allowing too much heat to build up and start to melt the burner flame spreader. The manual does reference a max pan size of 10" (Like I always read the owners manual for a gas range). Purchased new spreader, new smaller skillet and all is well. Worthy of note that too large of a pan on a burner could be a problem as it holds too much heat. Our last RV did not have the high btu front burner and we walked into this one with our eyes closed to this issue.
