Title: Splendide: Drying Mode & Drain Pump Runs
Post by: Frank Towle on September 17, 2015, 02:28:15 AM
This is the second coach with a Splendide 2000 vented washer/dryer.  The first one, a '96 Beaver, was very quiet during drying cycle.  Many times started it when going to bed and lulled to sleep with drum cycling back and forth.

Now, with our '01 Patriot, (Splendide Model: WD802, Serial: PFLP00150500) the drum cycling back and forth as before but at the same time the drain pump goes on about every 30 seconds or so for a few seconds and makes such a racket that you really want to leave when the dryer is running.

Is this normal??  Any way to change system settings to prevent the drain pump from running during the dryer cycle??

Cheers,  Frank

          Hi Frank,

The reason the pump cycles on and off is because of the condensation that is created when you apply heat to wet clothes. The noise that you hear may be a "dime" that has made its way into the pump housing. I've experienced that 2 or 3 times on the WD-802 models. It seems that a nickel or a penny is too big but a dime will fit between the intake slots on the pump housing. If you need to get the pump out, you will need to remove the unit and take the back off and it is on the bottom left corner. It will take about half hour to change the pump.
     Hope this helps, Regards, Fred
