Title: CAT Extended life coolant
Post by: Ken Sair on March 26, 2016, 11:45:50 PM
I seem to recall that after switching to CAT ELC I'm supposed to add some additive at mileage/time? Can anyone advise on this? Tx. Ken. Im at 48 months now on the new ELC and about 40,000 miles.

Cat does have a extender for ECL but that is at 300,000 miles.

Thanks Lee. In the back of my mind I remember something about 3 years for RV ers as we do not get near that amount of miles.

Ken, I had it done to mine last year and was told it was good for 6 years with the additive to be added at the 3 year mark.

Ken,
The Cat ECL literature states a 6 year life spam with the extender added at 3 years, but most RVs are getting longer service intervals of 4 to 5 years before adding the extender with a coolant analysis. So you can add the ELC extender now or have a coolant analysis ran to be sure that it is needed at this time.

Yes, thats what the CAT RV Hotline said. at 3 years add the extender. Its a matter of time not mileage. So I picked up a quart. Im at 4 years so Ill just add it. Ken
