My Girard awning will extend under power but will not retract under power.
Also, where is the wind sensor control, I have taken both overhead passenger
side panels off and see nothing but wires.

Chuck,
You can retract the awning manually with the crank if necessary. I think the sensor control is above the door/passenger sea, but not clear why you suspect the wind sensor. From what you posted, I'd check to see if the switch is functional since you have power going to the awning. If the motor runs but it doesn't retract, the switch is probably OK and you could have a support arm that is binding. Try cranking the awning in a bit and then try the switch to bring it in automatically. If this works, the awning needs adjustment. If all else fails call Girard tomorrow. They (usually Andre) are pretty good at talking one through troubleshooting.

I have the same problem. My awning will sometimes retract under power, but most of the time I have to bring it in by hand. Girard wants an really high price for a new switch, which seems to be my problem. Will continue to hand crank for the foreseeable future.

If you suspect switch is bad, remove and disconnect two wires on back of switch. Get volt meter and check continuity thru switch when button is pressed. If no continuity is present, then switch is bad. If good switch, here is a link that might help.http://beaveramb.org/forum/index.php/topic,6874.msg49197.html#msg49197 Also, when in wind sensor box, check all wires that go to terminal box. I had a bad connection with the small red wire, which I believe is the retract wire. Just by wiggling the wire the awning would work properly. Once all is operational, extend awning and get a leaf blower and blow on wind cups on roof to see if auto retract is working. Hope this helps.
