Has anyone come up with a reasonable $ replacement for the step well lights in e.g 07 Beaver Contessa? I have a bad one and cost for an exact replacement is in the $50 range. See Pic of original.
Thx, Steve

Don't know if these would work for you they're not even close to the same as yours.... but for only $12.95 check them out. I was looking to wire them into the Kwikee step light so they come on when the door is opened.

Bill,
Thanks! They would work but I'm in the process of making one with some scrap cherry wood and LEDs on tape. I'll file your source for future reference.

Check West Marine or Defender. They are(were) very common on boats.

Make sure you show off your finished product Steve. Inquiring minds want to know 8)

A man after my own nature. When all else fails regarding parts, make a new one yourself! It'll likely look better than the original.

How about these?

Thx Chuck!
Looked at them. My app needs both a gnd and 12v wire, Also only have a 1" cut out and most of this style requires 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" cutout.
Thx again, Steve

Take a look at these on Amazon. There are also some on eBay, but I prefer Amazon. I have something similar that I have used toggle more light to the step area a well as a night light for getting to the "john" at night.

Thanks for all the info on step well light sources. I started by making one from a scrap of cherry and LED tape lights. It lit up the stairs nicely but DW didn't like it protruding off the wall and I was hesitant to make it any thinner as I needed about 1/2" routed opening for the tape so thinning it down would have made it quite susceptible to cracking if hit. After looking at all the options, I decided to go with an exact replacement as many of the units were surplus and may have been hard to get if I needed another one later. Also most would require enlarging the existing wall cutout. Found that BCS had a better price and much more reasonable shipping $ than Monaco. So DW is happy and I'm moving on to PM the Blue Ox tow bar.
