Title: Onan 8000 super quiet generator

Having some issues with the generator.  Sometimes runs for a short time then shuts off.  Repeat start up and sometimes stays running as long as nothing is on.  I hear the transfer switch  working then try to run fan or AC, then it shuts off.  Now it wont even operate the fridge.   Anybody have any suggestions? I assume there are error codes for your model of generator.  When my generator had issues I checked the error code and that immediately pointed me in the right direction to identify the reason for shutting down.

Robert,
Check your owners manual (available online) to se the procedure for pulling trouble codes on your generator, and the description of each trouble code. The 8K Onan is a DC generator with a built in inverter in the control board, and it sounds like you may have a control board problem, but do not replace it without a thorough diagnosis because they are expensive.
