I've added an instruction guide for installation of the CAT Electric Fuel Priming Pump on a C9 engine. It's located under Fuel Systems in the "Common Problems" section of the Technical tab on the BAC web site.

These are old post however hoping for a response. I have a 2008 Beaver Contessa 42M purchased 6 months ago, so still learning. I stumbled on the discussion of electric fuel pump for the C9, and wonder if my coach has one? Any suggestions on how to determine if the FP is electric or mechanical? Should i upgrade to electric if not already?
Thanks, Frank

Frank,
Some here might disagree with me but IMHO if you are not having any power or starting issues, stick with what you have (If it ain't broke, don't fix it). Your coach came with a mechanical unit. If you want to verify, check out the Electric Fuel Pump Install article in Common Problems (BAC Web Site, Technical Tab). It will also give you an idea of the install procedure. I installed an electric pump in my C9 a number of years ago and did not notice any change in engine performance. But your results may be different. Many here who have installed it have seen improvements in performance, starting, etc.
