Title: Steps on 07 Patriot Thunder
Post by: Bob Reeves on April 10, 2017, 08:06:56 PM
anyone have experience in replacing flat gear on a Lippert step.  Not the motor or the controller but a flat toothed geared plate.

Bob

That was a SS Frigette step.  Lippert bought them.  You might find more info on here that way.  That flat gear seems to be a weak spot.  I dont think the whole step needs to come out.  Just the motor and gear.

Thanks Keith,
I have personally replaced a motor...simple job.  The step does not want to retract.....just vibrates in and out a couple of inches.  Dont suspect the motor or the controller.  Was told by a RV serviceman that the gear was missing some teeth.  I was told also that there were no replacement parts and that I would have to completely replace the step.  Talked with Monaco they gave me the number for Lippert.  They indicated parts were available and gave me the part number.  Have just ordered the part.  Just wondering if anyone had experience in replacing the gear.

The damaged/missing teeth on the gear is readily seen.   I appears that the replacement will not be a big task.   I hope that the replacement of the gear plate solves the problem.
