Title: Chassis/frame type
Post by: Bart Mix on May 14, 2017, 02:02:58 AM
I own a 03 Beaver, Monterey, 3 slides, 350 Cummins. It has 8 airbags & a 3 jack leveling system. I have been told it is not an RR8 frame but perhaps a Magnum C? How do I determine exactly which Chassis frame I have?
Thanks!

Bart, I have the original factory invoice for my 03 Monterey Seacliff and it shows a Roadmaster M-Series chassis. My best guess is that it is a RR8M which equates to raised rail 8 airbag magnum.

George,
OK that sounds reasonable.
Thanks!

I believe that when Monaco bought beaver they renamed the Magnum Chassis a Roadmaster with a "M" prefix.

I attached a VIN breakdown by Monaco dated 2006. It covers 2001 to 2013. Hope it helps. Maybe this could be posted under Manuals?

Russ - the attachment is a good reference guide. It has now narrowed down my chassis frame to a M8R or a M8S or a M10S M series? Now, if I can find a definition for the differences between the 3 I will be able to finally figure out mine. I am inclined to suspect M8R or M8S for a 8 airbag system (which I have) but unsure about the R or S difference?
Many Thanks!

Bart, The R means rear radiator, the S means side radiator.  8 is 8 air bags and the 10 is 10 airbags (tag axle).

Jerry - DUH! Now I remember reading that somewhere in my past - but I have slept since then!  :>)
I was sure the 10 meant airbags, but just forgot about the Rear & Side radiators!
Many Thanks for the clarification!

Just had our '05 Monterey into Henderson's for new shocks. Confirmed Magnum M8S (Magnum, 8 bag, Side Radiator)

Thanks Jeff! BTW - which brand of shocks did you install & how long did it take them?

Bilsteins. A couple of hrs (I think they estimate 3) but they were working on a couple of other issues too. Love the new shocks and Henderson rocks!! Most definitely sign up for the RPA
