Title: Radiator Cover
Post by: Jerry Emert on July 16, 2017, 06:37:41 AM
The cover over the radiator on the outside of the coach looks like it opens like a cargo door.  Looks like the same type hinge on the top edge as the cargo doors have.  There are two bolts on the bottom edge.  Do they open?  Thanks

On my Monterey it does, but the bolts may be difficult due to their exposure to road debris and moisture.

Jerry,
The slotted body panel that covers your radiator will open if you remove the lower bolts. The panel is hinged by a rolled edge that is slide into a round channel that is made into the metal strip above it.

Joel, Gerald, good news.  I have been trying to figure out how to give the radiator a quick mid trip cleaning because of all the dust in Canada and Alaska.  That makes it easier.  Thank you.

Jerry,
Be careful no to direct a high pressure stream of water at the radiator, because it can bend the fins between the tubes, and restrict air flow resulting in poor heat transfer, which is what you are trying to guard against.

Thank you.  My plan was to just hose it off with regular hose.  Judging by the dust, that had set up like concrete, on the sides of the coach, I figured it wouldn't hurt to rinse off the radiator.
Thanks

Suggest you clean from the inside to outside, try to push the dirt back the way it came in.
