Title: AC Drain

Does anyone know if my 03 PT has drains for the AC units?  Do they drain to the roof and run off?  I see water coming off the roof so that is what I assumed but water started dripping from the AC unit inside last night.  It was around 75 out at the time.

Not sure about the drains but dripping inside could be due to the AC freezing up. This can happen if you don't run the fans on high (high humidity also can contribute).

I am in the same situation as you.  Had an AC service done in Seffner Florida thinking if the drains were clogged the service would open them up and the water would flow outside rather than inside.  Unfortunately the service did not solve the problem. On high humidity nights the condensation off the coils drip through the return air vent.  I feel the future holds a new Penquin II for me.  Short term solution 5-gallon bucket with a towel inside.
Interested in opinions of others.

I don't know if the Patriot and Patriot Thunder models have drains from the a/c units.  I would guess they do because those are pretty high on the Beaver model list.  I know all three a/c units on our coach have drain tubes going from the a/c units through the ceiling and wall gaps, and the water is delivered by the tubes to drip under the side of the coach.

This is the front unit that it is happening to and it is only about 2 years old.  Guess I'll have to wait until it is happening when I can get up there to check.  Thanks so far!

Jerry,

I've not found any drain holes on the roof for my AC units, the moisture just collects on the roof and eventually drains off the front or sides (depending on how level the coach is). 

I've found if you keep the condenser and evaporator coils clean that helps prevent the dripping inside the coach.  Also, there are some opening in the base of the AC unit that you need to ensure are clear of debris so water will drain out of the unit.  My front AC unit was leaking earlier this year and I cleaned them both real good and have not had any problems since.

Watch out for wasp nest when you remove the cover, that's no place to be swatting at wasp.  Voice of experience.

Our Thunder has drains to the under coach.  If the celing pannels are lowered for cleaning of filters etc, the tubes can be seen at least in the front AC and I believe in the other two.  The tubes in ours are green with algae and need cleaning.  I intend to use a light bleach and soap solution to slowly flush them out.

It's common for drains to plug with debris, as discussed in threads here from time to time.  One tube on ours can be seen navigating the back of the fridge (access compartment) on its way to the coach undercarriage.
