Title: Roof satellite dish.
Post by: Fred Cook on December 01, 2017, 12:23:30 AM
I now have all the stuff I need to recoat my roof. Before doing that, I would like to remove the old satellite dish off the roof. I have looked at it and believe that it is bolted from below. But, I’m not sure how to access those boats and I believe there is probably a large hole that will be there when I take it off.   I plan on working on it tomorrow. Does anyone have a method getting this satellite off the roof?

Fred,
I doubt it is bolted from below. You should be able to remove the bolts, normally lag bolts going into the wood of the roof, once the sealant (probably Dicor) is removed. The hole will only be large enough to route the cables through. After removing the dish, reinstall the mounting bolts and screw a piece of aluminum, etc. down to cover the cable access hole. Make sure you can access the cables in ase you want to add another dish later. Then coat the bolts and plate with Dicor to seal them.
