I had a Samsung residential refrigerator installed in my 2006 Monterey a year ago at Alliance Coach when I purchased the coach from them. It has stopped working as in no cold. The lights come on at the top of the unit inside the refrigerator doors. Has anyone experienced a similar problem with their Samsung refrigerator?
I have contacted Samsung and they gave us the name of their repair company. As usual the problem started on late Friday so we can't contact the repair company until Monday. We are in northern GA and the repair company phone rings in TN somewhere. I am concerned they will no idea on how to access a refrigerator in a RV.
Would others on the forum think we should just pack up and head to Alliance which is about eight hours away or wait and talk to the repair company Samsung suggested I call.

Tom,
Before I spent 2 days driving (8 hours each way), and a lot of fuel, I would talk to the Samsung repair people. Alliance will probably not be able to fix the unit, so you will still need a Samsung repair guy after you get there. You can just keep the refrigerator cool with bags of ice while you wait, but the frozen food may be an issue that requires a lot of eating or a big party.

Tom,
Dry Ice will keep things frozen. Some grocery stores have dry ice.
As many of us have Samsungs, let us know the results.
Thx, Steve

Tom, I hate to mention this but check to make sure you have power to the Samsung, On the initial installation in my coach they did not pot a separate circuit breaker in and the fridge and other loads tripped the breaker. After making wiring changes, the outlet was placed in a horizontal position that I needed to secure. I had other folks do the installation than you but I suspect they would need to do deal with similar stuff.

An amazing thing the refrigerator has started working. We have always had power as we were on shore power, the light inside always came on when the door was opened and temperature was displayed for both refrigerator and freezer.
We were in some very cold weather not getting above freezing and going down into the teens during the night. These are outside temps as inside the coach was always in comfortable. Is is possible that the coils froze since there is not much insulation on the outside walls.
Alliance does not have anyone on staff capable of working on residential refrigerators and the service company they use is not a Samsung qualified repair company. Everyone be aware that service on residential refrigerators in RV's could be a real challenge especially if a company as large as Alliance or their subcontractor can not work on something they sold.

Ha, good point Tom. The Maytag repairman has long retired. Brave new world out there!

HI A side note, on my installation the installers sealed off and insulated the Norcold side access port and I have about 50% of the upper stack sealed off. I placed a remote thermometer in the back of the fridge and still never recorded anything more than a 10 degree variance from inside coach temp. (up or down). I know that exterior mini split a/c units have a low temp cut off so could be not frozen but shutoff. Fridge may have the same in that they are not designed for exterior use.
