Title: Where to you stow screen from entry door while driving?
Post by: Mike Shumack on February 07, 2018, 04:25:46 PM
This is probably a silly question - but what do you do with the removable screen on the entry door while driving?
I like the idea that the screen is removable so its easier to see out the door window, but I'm not sure what to do with it once its removed. do you just leave it in the step well?
My wife thinks that is a bad spot and the screen will get damaged while traveling. I can't think of an alternative spot.

Our screen was in place in the door when we purchased the coach.  It's never been out of its place in the door since we have owned the coach.  It does not bother our vision to the outside while driving and offers a little bright sun blockage which works to help our vision at times.

If we took it out for traveling, then we would try to place it behind the couch... assuming I could get it back there.  If not there, then it would likely have to fit in the basement behind the panaflex door on the large basement slide out.

Thanks for your reply.
The manual does suggest the screen be removed when driving - and it does sort of obstruct my vision. I think the idea was to just remove the screen (it comes out very easy) and leave in the step entry then reinstall it when you get to your destination. Although it would be sort of in the way when you stop for gas or such.
I think behind the coach would work too.

*** I just went to the Beaver manual to double check - and I see that Beaver does have a storage location. They say there are clips on the bottom haf of the door to hold the top-screen. I don't see any clips. I suppose PO removed them.

Couldnt a couple magnets hold it to the bottom half?

We have messed up 2 screens.  My wife really doesn't like it in the window because it blocks her view  as we go down the road.  I've now found that the space behind  the driver couch works great.

Putting it on the Bed is a good idea.
Keith, my screen is aluminum so magnets won't work. But otherwise a great idea.

I've never noticed any clips on the bottom half of the door, either!
I always remove the screen because I'm constantly taking pictures!  😀
I either lean it on the back of the couch or put it on the bed while traveling.
I can't put it behind the drivers couch because there is a sill there.

You could always glue some magnets on the lower frame and on the screen to hold it in place. It wouldn't be very expensive to accomplish!

Interesting thread. So, I checked my owner's manual and it mentions storing the screen, while moving at the bottom, using the clips provided. There are no clips provided.

The top door screen fits in a small space between the couch and the wall. 8)

I’ve never removed ours but we took the screen out of the passenger window and put it under the bed. That’s the window I take pictures out of if not through the windshield   I never thought to remove that one and I don’t recall ever seeing anything in the manual about removing it. Now I’m going to have to read through and see what it says.

The reason we remove ours is when we had MCD shades installed we opted to have the screen replaced with the day screen instead of having a pull down shade for ease of exit at night.  It is too dark to drive with.
