Post by: Dale Soule on February 28, 2018, 10:52:17 PM
Has anybody refurbished there driving chairs, ares are worn  just down, wer'e setting on pillows to get the height that we need. I remembered looking at blog, but can't find it.  New seats are about $ 3,000. It might be the pillows will be just fine.

I dont know your location but there has been some talk about having this done in Az.   I think they were able to just replace the worn parts and so save money.

We had our captain chairs recovered in Tucson, AZ, last April while attending the International
rally at Lazy Days KOA.

They came out to our site and took them out of the coach and had them back in 2 days!
EXCELLENT work and great price.  We paid $1500 for the pair.  They rebuilt both chairs and
put new leather and vinyl on them.

We just had driver/passenger seat recovered in Yuma last week. Specialty Sewing Senter 928-329-9409. Picked out color and top of the line material $800.00 each. Stayed in their parking lot with 120v outlet. They removed the seats piece by piece (arms, back, bottom).Had them put firmer seat bottom and more in the lumbar area. They said it would take a week start to finish and completed in 4 days. Great workmanship and nice people.

I replaced the foam cushions in both of our seats. The seat backs, arms, and ‘leather’ was all still in great shape but the seat cushions were shot; felt like sitting on the steel frame.

Watched a few YouTube videos on recovering auto seats to get up the courage.  Flexsteel sold me  “extra firm” foam cushions for our specific seat models for about $100/ea as I recall. The gal at Flexsteel was very helpful.  Total cost was $200 + about $15 for some metal clips and the special pliers to install them.

They turned out great but took me about a day per seat.

For a follow up:  We were in Redding, Ca. for a week. went to a local RV Boat Upholstery show (Frank Johnson Upholstery)  We removed seats done in two days. Same material just knew and better stuffing, Gained about 3" in elevation. Less than $ 700. Thanks to everybody that add info.  Dale

If you are in Yuma there is a shop on the north main street downtown area, Zavale uphostery, that completely recovered both ours for our Marquis. We used a new Ultra Leather material to match our new recliner and cost came to $2400.00. The material was $80.00 a yard.
They did a great job.
