Finally got around to finishing my New surge tank. The old plastic one had begun to leak I decided it was time to assemble and get it installed. I built it out of 5052 1/8" aluminum and took that material to a relative that has a sheer and break for the main components, bought the weld in bungs on eBay, and then had a friend Tig weld it. Just installed it yesterday

Great job! That oughta last a little longer than the plastic one...and looks better too!

That looks great, if anyone (not as handy) needs a tank BCS has new metal tanks made and available I am not sure of the cost and they are not as shinny as yours.

Pat,
Since you new tank does not have a sight glass, and due to its location, it can be inconvenient to difficult to check the coolant level, I would recommend that you add a coolant recovery tank to the system. http://beaveramb.org/forum/index.php/topic,4768.msg35654.html#msg35654

Gerald, I do have the sight glass installed in the front of the tank you can see it in the first reply, its the bottom pic under the fill cap. Also I have added the overflow tank when I first purchased the coach. Originally the coach did not have one installed so I added that to the engine compartment., that too can be seen behind the rear camera wash reservoir in the pic left side

Very nice job Pat.

Yeah, My old plastic one has started to leak just a small amount and summer is coming so I decided to finish the build. All materials was around $100.00. I have heard about the metal ones being sold have a problem with rusting and being made in China, don't know for sure and besides I like to build things and be independent.
