I have an intermittent problem with my cruise control, 1 out of 10 attempts it will work, when it does not engage I get a check engine light, otherwise I never get the engine light. 2006 Monterey Beaver, C-9 400 hp. Thanks for any help

We had the same problem with ours. Got ahold of the steering wheel MFG I believe is Smart Wheel & bought new boards that are under the pads (came as a pair). Very easy to replace.

Thanks Dennis I will give that a shot

Also be sure your exhaust brake is off. http://beaveramb.org/forum/index.php/topic,3019.msg22553.html#msg22553

John, your check engine light will flash on if you hold down the set or resume button on the cruise control and reveal diagnostic codes for your engine. The codes are identified in your operation and maintenance manual.

I'm not sure if air brakes have a similar setup but, my van had a similar problem. It turned out that there is a pressure switch connected to the brake pedal linkage behind the pedal that is meant to shut the cruise control off when you brake. I adjusted the switch (it has a threaded style adjuster) so that it was a bit further away from the brake pedal and that did the trick. Hopefully, it's something this easy to fix. Good luck.

Hi Had a similar issue and it turned out to be a chaffed wire on the wiring harness by the generator slide switch. The wire grounded to the metal frame of the slide switch and caused the cruise to cut off or not engage dependent on the previous pot hole. Just something out of the ordinary that can cause intermittent cruise.
Best.
