Title: Annoying hum
Post by: Gary Merrifield on August 08, 2018, 06:28:37 AM
What is the annoying hum above in the area above the steering wheel?

Can think of two possibilities.
1)  Nav system power head and CD changer
2)  Our breaker panel is straight up from my left shoulder.   Perhaps a breaker is getting weak?

A possible solution is to buy a auto stethoscope and trace the sound?

On my '05 there are two speaker-like devices in that area. One if for the Tag Axle "raised" alarm, and the other is the Turn Signal "on" chime.

I think there is also a Low air pressure buzzer in that vicinity. I suppose any  of these could be malfunctioning or getting feedback resulting in noise.

Do you have the removable dash access panel above the steering wheel? If so, pop it off and see if you can narrow down the source of your hum.
Good luck.

This noise is more overhead.

Gary,
Make sure your overhead fan isn't on.

My guess is a radio/Bose/TV speaker is humming or, as Steve opined, perhaps the overhead defroster fan is on.
