George, they are both the same size on my coach as well.

On our coach, a 2004 Marquis Sapphire, both are electric and 3". I replaced both of ours last year.

George,
My SMC made 2000 Marquis had a 1 1/2 inch valve on the gray tank and a 3 inch valve on the black tank. So since your 2002 Marquis is an SMC design, I would expect it to use a 1 1/2 inch valve on the gray tank also.

My 03 is an SMC chassis. My black is 3 inch and the gray is 1.5 inch. I am sure I just rebuilt the sewer system "manifold" that includes both valves.
-
Just replaced my black valve. ( what a pita) Both are 3” ( drain master ) so it may depend on floor plan ? 03 Marquis ruby
A side note the factory wrote black tank on the gray and Gray tank on the black lol

Confirm today both are 3 inches. Changing both even throw the black valve is still good do not want to take a chance if you know what I mean. 159.00 per valve.
Thanks again Beaver Nation for the help.

That seems really high! I bought the "manifold, really don't know what it's called," for about 60 and it included both valves.

The "electric operating" drain valves are running in the $140-150 range from what I see in the internet. Convenience is expensive.
Jerry, did you buy the manual opening style (T-handle)?

I didn't consider the electric valves! I am so happy that my coach didn't have some of that fancy crap when I bought it. Thanks

I just bought 2 valves directly from Drain Master last month ! 220.40 plus 11.15 shipping, call them directly.
You are correct its Good idea to replace both as getting to them is a bit of a challenge.

I paid 156 per to unite, which included new gray and black push electrical switch. I figured one you in go all the way.

Head up After buying my new valves. I started to install, Well to my dismay the one valve the would not open was a result of a blown fuse. This fuse was in line on the valve from the switch. Still, replace both valves.

Due to Beavers not understanding how to install a gate valve (mine were installed flat horz) They don't last long before the top works gets full of gunk. Replace them once and they failed a year later, the 3" manual valves have worked without fail for three years and may last many more years. Have a brand new set of Drain Master valves that I may install when I sell this coach if the new owner wants them.

My patriot had 3" on black tank and 1 1/2" on grey tank. I installed drainmaster 3" on both tanks. They work every time no problems. Here is the old 3" and 1 1/2" valves and the new electric valve install.
