Title: Under dash Item ?

The attached photo was from a post originally submitted by Dick Simonis regarding items under the dash. I have the same item and am also wondering what this item is. The original post is over 120 days old so as recommended a have posted again. What does this do ?

That is a vacuum control solenoid. Commonly used to control the duct doors in an HVAC system (like AC/heat blend door, floor or dash ducts, etc.). There should be a vacuum hose on the lower port in your picture. Possibly it broke off and is under the dash somewhere. Or possibly the solenoid is being used to exhaust (release) vacuum on some component. What does the red vacuum line connect to?
