Title: In dash engine diagnostic plug
Post by: Rick Daniels on September 17, 2018, 02:44:48 PM
My silverleaf has died.  I have talked myself into the the VMSpc based on several comments on this forum and independent research including contact with Silverleaf electronics.  This forum and silverleaf state that I should have a diagnostic plug in or under the dash.  The diagnostic plug in the engine service bay is a 6 prong plug so I looked for the reported plug in the dash by raising the top panel and stuffing my old bones under the the dash and I cannot find anything that resembles a plug similar to the one in the engine service bay. Is it possible that the 1999 Marquis Jasper did not have such a plug under the dash?  Can someone post a picture of what the plug looks like or where I should look to find it?  I think I know what I am looking for but I just don't see it. Clearly a non-professional has messed with the wiring under the dash as it looks like a can of worms in there.  There are two large black multi pin connectors that appear to be the factory wiring harness connections.  Is there anything connected to the dash area diagnostic plug?  As always, your help is appreciated.

I suggest you call Silverleaf again and ask for Dale Kemper.  Then request a photo for what you want.  I am sure someone will respond with a photo if Dale is not in.

Contacted Dale Kemper at Silverrleaf.  He said the 99 Marquis does have a forward plug under the dash but said for his money he would pull the old VMS II, send it in and have it repaired at a cost far less than VMS PC.  Plus I wont end up with a meaningless hole in my dash. Once again this forum steered me in the right direction.
