Title: Entry Step problem

The last time we had the Thunder on the road the entry step began to cycle in and out repeatedly. I was wondering, does the magnet that activates this action on the door frame ever get weak or go bad? If I hold a magnet to the sensor it seems to work properly. But when the coach is running with the door closed it begins to cycle over and over. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Larry,
I think the magnet is wired to the controller through the 4 pin connector. The red and brown wire are the connections. You should read 12v with door closed and 0v when open.

I have the same steps (SCS/Frigette) which is now owned by Kwikee.
This diagram is from the troubleshooting manual. When replacing the magnet, it mentions that it must be oriented correctly (north/south poles) to work properly. So I assume that when testing with a magnet you would also need to be sure it is oriented properly so you don't get a false reading.

Do you have a two pin contact on the hinge side of the door? The door contacts let the controller know it he door is open or closed.  The magnet (on ours) is on the step and let's the controller know if the step is out or in.

I have the two pins and the magnet.
I thought the pins where the electrical contacts for the power door lock mechanism. But I'm not really sure.

Thanks for all the feedback! Yes, I do have the 2 pin contacts. It’s all a little confusing to me, the 2 pin contacts and the in frame sensors. I know the upper sensor actuates the step with the magnet. What does the lower sensor do? Anyway I ordered a new sensor and magnet combo from BCS. I’ll try a new magnet and if that doesn’t work I’ll replace the sensor in the door frame. We will see... Thanks again!!

Just to clarify, I think SCS/Frigette is owned by Lippert Components. Perhaps they also own Kwikee, which may lead to my confusion.
