Title: Replacement of standard ceiling lites with LED question
Post by: Norm Green on October 21, 2018, 08:07:33 PM
I would like to replace many or all of my various ceiling lights with either a direct replacement LED fixture or an LED replacement bulb.  I have done a lot of searching on this forum and many of the postings are several years old and technology and prices may have changed greatly.  My coach is a 2008 PT and I am looking for recommendations which would provide similar intensity and color of the original halogen lites.  I have a number of both 3”, 10w bulb and 4” , 20w bulb puck lites with the frosted glass cover that twists off and about a dozen puck lites that are about 3 1/2” diameter and silver with a gold inner ring and smaller frosted glass lense, which I have been unable to how to remove as yet.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

Try M4 LED for RVs.  They will have what you are looking for at a good price. I changed all mine out last year.

Norm,
These are great replacements for the puck lights. I've installed them in my last 2 coaches and have been extremely satisfied. They are high quality and easy to install, either using the springs or screws. They are dimmable. Just remember that LEDs are polarity sensitive but halogens aren't so you'll need to check each before final install as Monaco didn't observe polarity much when wiring the halogens.

To remove lens on the smaller lights gently put a small flat blade between the gold and inner silver ring and pry while working your way around the fixture.  Be careful to not let the lense drop and break since when the ring comes loose it wil be free.  For the large frosted lenses I had a few stuck to the ceiling and had to do the same between lense and ceiling before I could twist it off.

I replaced all the Halogen bulbs with LED bulbs I found on Amazon. I don"t remember exactly what it cost. I am guessing about $20 for a package of 10 bulbs and I had no problem with polarity they are all still working great. I do remember that there where a lot of bulbs to chose from on Amazon so it took some research to find the best Bulb and the right size.

Many other Beaver owners have purchased my LED lights. They normally do their own installation with no problems. If you have any questions Email me at roys.inbox@sbcglobal.net,
