Title: Door Entry Keypad
Post by: Gary Merrifield on February 24, 2019, 08:51:35 PM
Trying to reset door code and following directions is not working.
Any ideas?
Also where can I get a remote that will work with this system?

Gary,
What system do you have?

Our '05 uses the Essex 1704 keypad. See http://www.keyless.com/KE-1700%20Main.htm

Does the keypad light up when you touch it?
Did you find the programming button in the wire harness (on my coach you have to remove the hatch/cover next to magazine rack by pass seat)

Gary,
On my 07, the control unit for our Tri-Mark is in the dash. You can access it by removing the panel above the instrument panel, It was tucked back toward the firewall.

If you have the Essex (1701 or 1704) there is a programming button for the outside door control (the button is the one behind the magazine rack) ,and their is a second box under the dash which also has a programming button which is for the key chain remotes.

If you have the Trimark system, then I can't help.

So, do the buttons light up? That would determine if you have power to the unit (or if it is defective).

The buttons light up and I get all the right beep but nothing seems to work. Not even the factory codes

It sounds like it is defective.
Mine went bad (in my case would not even light up). I bought a replacement from A1 Electric https://www.a1electric.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AEOS&Product_Code=KE1701

I have the Essex 1704 keypad on my '05 Beaver. Since the time we bought the unit in 2015, I would hear a random beep or beeps from the area around the keypad. It just about drove me crazy, until I called Essex. I spoke with a very knowledgeable engineer who knew the system inside and out. He said the random beeps were coming from the keypad and it meant the keypad was bad. Had it replaced by BCS in Bend under our extended warranty this Nov. Pad lights up now, no random beeps. Wife and I haven't yet set the code.

Ours would beep or activate on its own during rain storms or washing.  I asked BCS when they replaced it years ago to Lexel seal not only the escutcheon to the body but also the touchpad to the escutcheon.  No more problems.  The inner circuitry obviously isn’t moisture tolerant.

As others note, the device itself is likely accessible via a “magazine rack” next to the copilot’s seat, and the ECM box may be under the driver’s dash velcroed-down access panel.
