Title: Entry door hinge
Post by: Marty and Suzie Schenck on December 23, 2019, 02:44:11 AM
Other than Beaver Coach Sales, since my 2004 Patriot Thunder is a Monaco product, can anyone direct me to a place where I could find a new upper entry door hinge. Thanks, Marty

Do you perhaps mean the door check that holds the door open? Monaco parts are available thru the REV Group:

I read about this place a week or so ago.  It is supposed to be the biggest RV salvage yard in the country.  Maybe they have hinges?

Marty, make sure you measure the length and the width of your swing arm assembly. I just replaced my assembly and got it from the web site in David's post. They make a 1" and a 1.25" wide assembly. Mine is the 1" one on the 2007 Marquis. Hope this helps.

If it is the strut you need, you can always try this solution:       https://bsehlin.wordpress.com/entry-door-strut/

I am curious why you don't get it from BCS? Price? Location? Boycott?

I was there last month and they had it in stock and replaced in 20 min. They also replaced the plastic clip that connects and holds the screen door to the main door.

In response to Bill Sprague’s suggestion of finding a used piece, the most common failure of the door check is the loosening of the pivot such that there is too much play between the arms. Because of that play, the interference lock fails to engage and the door will not be kept open. Beyond limiting the door swing, that stay is an important function.

It is the hinge I need and not the door stop. The door is so heavy and no way to lube the hinge so the pivot pin and hinge are wearing and the door is sagging.
I said other than Beaver Coach Sales because when I first contacted them they kinda doubted they could find one. They contacted me today and said they think they found one. I hope so.
Thanks for the replies,
Marty

If that did not work, call me at (408) 515-5957.  I think I know who made the original door assembly.  ( I will dig out the info only if you have not found another source.
