Hi All,
So we are plugged into 50 amp shore power at camp host site, I checked my chasis battery and it had dropped to 12.7 volts. I have the Xantrex Freedom 458 Inverter/Charter. I hooked up a auto trickle charger to chasis battery for now. The Echo charger seems like a better long term solution. Any thoughts? How hard are they to install? I have a 1991 Contessa with 4 wet cell batteries.
Thank you

Jason, If your going to do it yourself, it is simple. If you want to read the owners manual we have it on file: Click on "private BAC members only on the bottom of the page, then "link to coach assist" then click the link link "hppt beaver assist then scroll down to Electrical systems, 4th one down is Echo Charger owners and installation manual, Fred

Fred,
Thanks, I will look that up. Is 12.7 volts low for a lead acid battery at rest?

12.7 volts for a 12-volt battery that is standing alone with nothing connected to it is fully charged.

Jason, Dave is correct, 50% discharged is 11.9 to 12.0 volts and a dead battery is 11.2 volts (no amperage left in it). Fred

I recently added a Echo Charger, and it was about as easy as most projects get. The hardest part was routing and securing the wires, and this was not hard. A few connections and mounting the Echo charger and you are done. It has worked well for me.
