Hey All,
First time posting in here. Just purchased a 2007 Beaver Patriot Thunder. My stairs come out just fine, but when I close the door the go in a little then catch and "chatter" until I give them a little push. I took the motor off and cleaned it, lubricated everything, but still doing the same thing. I am thinking the motor needs replacing but there are no numbers on it. Does anyone know what motor is on the stair for this make and model coach?
Thanks

Richard,
Before buying a new motor check out the Common Problems writeup on entry stairs. It contains a troubleshooting guide. Access it on the Private BAC Members Only board.

Sounds like a broken cog on a drive gear. But commonly mfrs. of any device, ice makers to awnings or anything in between, make you buy a whole motor to fix the gear.

I had similar problem on my 07 Patriot. The stair was mfg by Coach Steps Inc. Lipppert bought them in 07 and made steps & parts for a time. Now no new steps and limited parts. My problem was teeth being ground off on the Gear plate assemble not on the drive motor. parts are very difficult to find. On the Lippert Component data sheets it states that if teeth are damaged on 1 of the 3 shown, you will have to replace the entire step assembly. That was what I did, very expensive and hard to find. I was told that I got the last new step available.
