Captain Chair
« on: April 25, 2026, 11:39:51 PM »
The co pilot chair will not move forward or back, have the chair turned around facing the cabin so it is not usable when driving down the road.  The lumbar, foot rest and seat tilt work but won't slide forward or backward.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks Rocky Healey

   Rocky,
There are molded plugs that attach to the back side of the seat switch. I would remove the screws that hold the switch plate and check the plug. If no joy, trace that plug to the track motor harness and check connectors. The motors hardly ever fail, but rotating the chair in the wrong direction has a tendency to stress the wiring. Fred

As Fred mentioned the wiring comes up through the floor and attaches to the power seat controls has to be able to rotate with the chair , in some cases this short wiring harness is too short and if the chair is turned too far or turned the wrong direction as the wires goes around the pedestal it will stress them and pull the connections apart or break them.In your case it seems that half the functions work ie the foot rest still works and the forward and aft motor controls don't . As Fred said your first check should be the connections at the back of the switch and again maybe the ones on the seat track  motor.
Also if the motor runs but the seat doesn't move check the flexible drive shaft between the motor and track drives ( this is a small flexible drive cable much like a speedometer cable in the older cars and can be broken or simply pulled apart )
failing that I'd be testing at the motors to see if there was power present when the switches were pushed the switches are in a in a vulnerable spot low on the chair and can sometimes get damaged by put traffic and people rubbing against them.

Hope this helps
