Slide out gasket replacement
« on: November 06, 2020, 04:04:57 AM »
I had a extremely experienced RV tech by the house, and asked him where to find replacement slide out seal
Turns out my 05 Monterey used garage door gasket available at almost any hardware store

This is the barcode number, you can probably get it through eBay using this number

I’d verify that notion first with BCS or Jeff Spear at Bend RV Repair.

I do not think that is the correct seal. A garage seal is meant for a vertical application and is very thin. A "wiper" seal is at least 1/4" thick and is engineered for a lateral application. When properly installed, it should have at least 1/2" deflection so it is in constant contact with the slide out bottom and transitions properly when the direction of the room is changed.
  Hope this helps, Fred

Like Fred says, there are two seal types on the Slide Outs. The seal (gasket) that goes against the body (on the inside edge when slide is Out, and on the outside edge when slide is In), and the Wiper seal.
I posted this photo earlier on this forum but can't find that thread now. So here it is again. Maybe this will help you understand what I'm trying to describe.

Sorry if I mis-understood, but I thought he was talking about the wiper seal under the slide room. Fred

I don't which seal OP is referring to. I just know there are different types.

Bob, there is photo posting assistance available in the Home>Forum Assistance (Members Only) section here.  Or email a photo to myself, another contributing member here, or Steve Huber, and we will gladly post it for you (click the envelope under our profile).  It would help clear up obvious uncertainty about which seal you’re asking about.
